2. 南安普顿大学概述

南安普顿大学 (University of Southampton)，亦称修咸顿大学，勋衔：Soton。位于英国南部港口城市南安普顿市。为一所位于英格兰之世界级著名研究型大学，来自英国的顶尖学府，英国罗素集团成员，世界大学联盟成员，SES-5成员，是位列世界前1%的研究型大学。学校历史可追溯自1862年由亨利·罗宾逊·哈特利爵士之遗产所创办之哈特利学院。该校于1902年由伦敦大学(University of London)授予学位。并于1952年4月取得皇家宪章。

南安普顿大学是英国大学专业评级中，唯一一所每个理工部门都收到五星研究评级的大学，被公认为世界顶尖理工大学之一。大学拥有海洋研究机构——英国国家海洋研究中心(NOCS)，光电子研究中心(ORC)，癌症免疫学中心(CCI)等其它研究中心。大学于1996年收并英国著名艺术院校——温彻斯特艺术学院。著名校友有“互联网之父”蒂姆·伯纳斯·李(Tim Berners-Lee)，现任其计算机科学学院教授，诺贝尔经济学奖得主克里斯托弗·皮萨里德斯，现任伦敦大学学院（UCL）校长(President & Provost)迈克尔·阿瑟(Michael Arthur)。

南安普顿大学现有七个校区，分别分布于Southampton Campus, Winchester Campus, Malaysia Campus, 与University Hospital Southampton。它们是「Highfield Campus, Avenue Campus, Boldrewood Innovation Campus, Waterfront Campus, Winchester Campus, Malaysia Campus与University Hospital Southampton」。

学校共有三处学生住宿区：Glen Eyre, Wessex Lane, Small Halls & Archers Road,以及May Flower Hall。其中最大的是Glen Eyre，容纳人数最多的是新建成的 May Flower Hall。位于city centre 的 May Flower Hall 是一个于2014年建成的现代化学生住宿楼，一共ABC三栋住宿楼，每栋楼有一个common room，每间房配备网络设施以及洗漱间，每个flat 共享厨房设施，厨房有落地窗。May Flower Hall 的reception 在A栋一楼，24小时有人接待。出入宿舍区与自己房间使用同一个电子感应钥匙。
